A Unique Initiative - Diwali de Hero

Diwali is a festival of lights and hope. It is a symbol of victory of light over darkness, justice over injustice and truth over fakeness. As an Indian, this is celebrated by one and all. It brings in an atmosphere of joy and enthusiasm. For businessmen, it is like a starting of a new year. As nothing is perfect, even this festival too brings in some negatives along with. The several cases of accidents due to crackers and gambling are some of these. Crores of rupees are wasted every year on crackers. Not just wastage of money, this has very harmful effects on environment and health. As elders it is our responsibility to teach our younger generations about the impact of indulging in such activities.

Taking a step forward, the social welfare team of Baba Farid College of Management and Technology (BFCMT) had taken an initiative “DIWALI DE HERO” in this direction. They went to each and every class, discussed with students and faculty members and made them realize the flaws of celebrating with crackers. They made the students understand how a temporary joy causes much permanent losses. Students understand how every year so many patients loose their lives due to the increase in pollution level. The team also made them aware of the irreparable loss to the environment. The students and faculty members got so motivated that they willingly took an oath to celebrate this Diwali with sweets and lamps. They promised not to use crackers and instead celebrate by helping someone in need. So, becoming real Diwali Heroes in this way. This was a well thought and planned effort of Mr. Parampal Singh, Mr  Parminder Singh and Ms Shellyka. Such efforts make one think that if everyone acts in this way, this world will definitely become a better place to live in.
