BFCMT organized 5 days Faculty Development Program by NITTTR, Chandigarh

Baba Farid College of Management & Technology (BFCMT) organized 5 days Faculty Development Program (FDP) by National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh on Module-1 of Instructional Planning & Delivery. It was attended by engineering and management faculty members. Inaugural session was addressed by Dr. MP Poonia- Director, NITTTR and Dean R&D, NITTTR -Dr. PK Tulsi. In this short term course the key speakers of the session from NITTTR, Dr. PK Tulsi, Prof. PK Singla, Dr.Sunil Dutt, Er TN Thukral, Dr. SP Bedi stressed upon the importance of instructional planning and the effective delivery of lectures. There is a gap between what students learn in academics and the practicality of the same. Therefore, to make learning easy and to fill the gap a teacher must not rely upon a single teaching methodology i.e. Lecture Method. Rather a teacher must arouse the interest of the students by introducing various teaching methodologies like: Case Studies, Group Discussions, Student Presentations and Brainstorming Sessions etc.

Instructional Planning plays a pivotal role and its importance can’t be disregarded. The speakers touched upon various concepts like: Task analysis, Class Room Management, Project Work, Evaluation Criteria and Lesson Planning. To make the process of learning easier for the students, a teacher must not evaluate the students on the basis of marks only but on various parameters like: Class participation, Practical Knowledge etc. Only the evaluation is not important but it should be followed by a proper feedback and the ways to improve specific skill set of the students.

We at BFGI continuously organize such programs for the continuous development of faculty. Faculty Development Programs hold a unique place in our entire trainings program as through this medium they can directly interact with key speakers and share their experiences.

Ms. Babita Singla, Dean R&D and Local Co-coordinator-FDP, NITTTR paid her vote of Thanks to Chairman, BFGI Bathinda and to Director, NITTTR Chandigarh for giving opportunity to organize such programs for faculty development. She mentioned that in the year 2014, BFGI has organized total 4 ICT based Faculty Development Programs in total by NITTTR, Chandigarh.

It is a matter of pride for us that we are arranging such sessions with one of the leading institute of India to provide a knowledge sharing platform to our faculty members.
