BFGI students gave a tough competition to scholars of prestigious B-Schools during the Annual Fest 'Infusion-2014’ held at IIM-Rohtak

At the beginning of the twenty-first century, many colleges and universities have educational plans which are very broad in nature to enhance the overall personality of the students. Along with the academic activities, extracurricular involvement is also gaining importance. For a vast majority of college and university students, these activities play an integral role in the collegiate experience and enhancing their overall personality. Almost every college has its own fest or a set of festivals ranging from cultural extravaganzas to technical wizardry. Because of the diverse interests of college students, the range of extracurricular activity offerings varies extensively.

As the vision of BFGI is also aligned with the overall development of students, therefore the extracurricular activities cannot be ignored. The students also understand this fact very well that overall development is not possible until and unless they would take proactive actions apart from academics. To be an exemplar in the region, 25 students of BFGI from MBA (Baba Farid College of Management & Technology), BBA and B.Com(Baba Farid College) courses actively participated in the fest named “Infusion-2014” organized by “Indian Institute of Management (IIM)- Rohtak” on 18th and 19th January, 2014. The students participated in 7 events under the categories of Music, Dance, literary events and Fine Arts. The students gave  a stiff competition to the scholars from the prestigious colleges like: IIM Kashipur, IIM Rohtak,  IIFT Delhi, MDI Gurgaon etc. The performances especially the singing and the fashion show theme” Save the Girl Child” were really appreciated by the audience. Moreover, the students also gave a tough competition in the extempore also.

Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal- Managing Director, (BFGI) congratulated the participants and winners for their remarkable efforts. S. Dhaliwal said, “Competitions teach us where we stand among others as these are real touchstones. While performing we should never take our competitors in a light manner. We should perform to the core irrespective of our victory or defeat. It is also a way to push your limits and test your potential. Competing with other students helps you judge yourself more effectively. Also, it’s never easy to perform in front of a crowd that is judging you. Participating in such activities teaches you a number of life skills and helps you in developing a positive attitude and employers appreciate such qualities. We felt great pride and honor that we not only participated but also won the second prize in the festival. Our student of BBA 1st year bagged the second position in the event Extempore.”

Dr. Manish Bansal-Director Principal, BFCMT said, “These activities exist to complement the university's academic curriculum and to augment the student's educational experience. Students also develop skills specific to their career path and imperative for future job success. Moreover, participation in extracurricular activities and leadership roles in these activities are positively correlated to attainment of one's first job and to managerial potential. It enables students to interact with a large number of people and to make a bond with such great personalities in other college as well as outside whom you may not have met otherwise”.
